Quarry Overview

This quarry has been producing granite blocks and stone products for many years, resulting in a large accumulation of granite fragments and fractured stones that are stored on-site. Micrex has analyzed the chemical properties of these rocks, and identified customers that can utilize them. Since these pieces have already been stockpiled, they can quickly be crushed to appropriate size and delivered to customers at a very low cost. The quarry will continue to produce its traditional products, so the fractured stones will generate in an additional revenue stream.

This property is located close to the town of Saint-Alexis-des-Monts, Québec (population 3,000 in 2011), and paved road runs to the property boundary. The region has numerous quarry operations nearby, and a pool of experienced contractors and skilled labour is available.

The property covers 88 acres and the quarry has five benches from which large blocks of granite are extracted. Current inventory includes over 100 cut blocks, plus a large quantity of fractured stones.

Action Plan

Micrex will continue current operations which sell products for landscaping and memorial stone purposes. Micrex will add to current revenue streams by finding customers for the fractured stones that are generated by normal quarry operations.

The quarry has been in production for 20 years, and contains enough material to operate for at least 100 more years at the current rate of production.
